AFRICAN FASHION TEXTILES: HISTORY AND USAGE (ELR)

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the diverse traditions of African textiles, exploring their historical evolution, cultural symbolism and methods of production. Students examine key textile practices and how these connect to identity, storytelling and contemporary design. Students research, analyze and experiment with selected textile techniques to better understand their aesthetic, functional and cultural relevance across the African continent. This course is offered in Kigali, Rwanda. Students must be enrolled at Kent State's Rwanda location to receive credit.
