MODEL-BASED SYSTEMS SIMULATION
Kent State University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course explores the principles and practices of modeling and simulation-based systems engineering (M&SBSE), focusing on the integration of executable models into the systems engineering life cycle. Emphasizing the dynamic nature of digital simulation, students learn how to use modeling techniques—beyond static diagrams—to define, analyze and evaluate complex systems within real-time environments. The course introduces simulation frameworks, co-simulation strategies and model integration approaches that support continuous validation, risk reduction and life cycle traceability. Drawing from real-world case studies and cross-domain applications, students gain hands-on experience with applying simulation-driven methods to enhance system design, foster interdisciplinary collaboration and advance digital engineering practices.
