Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the tools and methodologies necessary to optimize processes, minimize waste and enhance overall quality. This course begins by exploring the concept of a Lean history and enterprise, where the focus is on value creation and waste reduction across all operations. This course helps students categorize activities into value-added, non-value-added or necessary non-value-added and address the eight types of waste. This course also examines the five core principles of Lean: value, value stream, flow, pull and perfection, and examine how these principles can be applied to real-world scenarios. The course introduces key tools such as value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban and root cause analysis to help identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
