Catalog description

This course is designed to provide engineering students with a broad view of quality tools and their integration into a comprehensive quality management and improvement system. Course coverage includes theories and approaches of the major quality leaders such as Deming, Juran, Crosby and Taguchi. Topics include organization-wide assessment and improvement techniques, understanding customer needs, the importance of customer satisfaction and loyalty, improving quality while decreasing costs, designing for quality and statistical process control. The course explores contemporary topics of design for Six Sigma, quality function deployment, Kansei engineering and Lean Six Sigma.
