This is an introductory course in astrophysics, covering the basic laws of physics, incorporated into the study of the structure of the Universe. The course begins with the basic notions of gravity, the motion of heavenly bodies, and the tools that allow an understanding of how far objects are and how they are moving. These tools allow for an understanding of the large-scale structure of the Universe in terms of galaxies made up of stars, in the context of expansion as the only viable interpretation of the data with the framework of General Relativity Theory. The evidence for exotic objects like dark matter, dark energy, and black holes is discussed.
