Catalog description

In this course, students build upon foundational concepts to provide nursing care for individuals with common acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan. Content includes physical and mental health conditions encountered in both community and acute care settings. Students develop age-appropriate, person-centered plans of care based on assessment findings, clinical priorities, and developmental needs. Emphasis is placed on patient safety, therapeutic communication, early recognition of changes in condition, and family-centered care. Students explore strategies for collaborating with families in caring for pediatric, adult, and older adult populations and providing individualized health education.
