Catalog description

This course advances students’ understanding of the theoretical foundations and applied practices of music therapy with a focus on clinical decision-making and treatment planning across diverse populations. Students refine skills in assessment, goal development, intervention design, and documentation while integrating current research and evidence-based practices. Emphasis is placed on the therapeutic relationship, clinical improvisation, and ethical considerations in music therapy practice. Through lecture, discussion, and applied experiences, students deepen their capacity to synthesize theory and application in preparation for advanced practicum and clinical work.
