Catalog description

This course is a supervised clinical experience introducing students to the application of music therapy in professional settings. Students observe, assist, and begin to facilitate music experiences with diverse populations under the guidance of board-certified music therapists. Emphasis is placed on developing professional skills, including session planning, clinical observation, therapeutic presence, ethical practice, and reflective journaling. Practicum I provides students with a structured opportunity to connect classroom learning with clinical practice, laying the foundation for progressive practicum experiences and professional competency in music therapy.
