Senior Research Seminar in Economics

Catalog description
This capstone course provides an opportunity for students to (a) conduct independent applied or theoretical research on economic issues; (b) improve their writing and presentation skills; and (c) read and present a summary of an important classic or contemporary economics book in an area of their interest. In this capstone course, emphasis is placed on applying economic theory and empirical methods to real-world questions and on sharing findings clearly and professionally, through analyzing data, writing, using presentation software, and communicating and discussing their findings. Students draw upon what they have learned in their major courses and other coursework to read, write, discuss, and do economics. At the end of the course, students will have a portfolio that demonstrates their proficiency in writing, economic analysis, data analytics, and presentation skills.
