Surveying for Engineers

Catalog description
This course is designed to teach students basic/introductory surveying methods. The class includes the following topics: overview of surveying, measurement units, use, care and procedures for differential levels, trigonometric leveling, measurement of distances using an Engineers Chain, care and use of Total Station, computation of azimuths, bearings, and relationship of declination to bearings, fundamentals of stadia, fundamentals of topography and contours including interpolation of contours, methods of recording and use of field notes, introduction to GPS, closure and area computations, simple horizontal curve problems along with equal tangent vertical curve problems.
