Catalog description
This course presents and facilitates the analysis of major health service delivery and management issues in the United States (US). The course presents a systematic analysis of the administrative structure, financing, and provision of health care services in the US. This course will expand student understanding of health, illness and wellness by looking at these as both biological, socio-cultural and socio-economic phenomena. Important population differences rooted in cultural, racial, ethnic, social, behavioral, economic and political factors will be examined to encourage innovative community and patient-directed solutions that consider the unique characteristics and structural challenges presented by the US health care system.
