Pediatric Occupational Therapy II: Intervention and Outcomes advances clinical reasoning for occupation-based, client- and family-centered pediatric intervention, with added emphasis on groups and populations and building on prior coursework. Students apply the three pillars of evidence-based practice (best evidence, clinical expertise, and client/caregiver values and context) to make informed intervention decisions. Learners become data-driven by selecting outcome measures, monitoring and re-evaluating intervention effects, and using results to guide modification and discharge planning. The course develops skills in grading and adapting occupations through task and environmental modification, assistive technology/adaptive equipment, and strategies that support safety, wellness, and self-advocacy, including collaboration with occupational therapy assistants, lifestyle medicine, and innovations in intervention. Students also strengthen teaching and learning skills to educate clients, stakeholders, and other professionals through research and dissemination of evidence-based practice projects.
