Catalog description

Honors Organic Chemistry I is the first of a 2-semester sequence at the sophomore-junior level. The first semester will focus on the basic principles of organic chemistry (nomenclature, bonding, molecular shapes, and stereochemistry), reactions of fundamental classes of organic compounds and spectroscopic structure determination methods. Demonstration of these concepts will be accompanied by pertinent examples of bioactive organic molecules from medicine and pharmaceutical research.
