Catalog description

This course introduces students to the principles and skills necessary for effective communication. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of employing these communication techniques when working with people who have a severe mental illness. Classroom lectures and discussions will expose students to the principles of both basic interviewing and therapeutic/rehabilitative interactions. Students will also learn about values and attitudes which have an impact on professional interpersonal relationships. Learning will be enhanced through active participation in faculty supervised clinical lab exercises. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Psychology/Psychiatric Rehabilitation course. Rutgers fees and tuition per credit.
