Catalog description
This capstone course provides physician assistant students with a comprehensive, summative learning experience designed to integrate and assess clinical knowledge, diagnostic reasoning, and professional competencies prior to graduation and entry into clinical practice. Through advanced case-based learning, simulated patient encounters, structured clinical assessments, and board-style examinations, students synthesize information from patient history, physical examination, diagnostic studies, and evidence-based resources to manage complex and undifferentiated patient presentations across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on safe clinical decision-making, interprofessional communication, ethical practice, and patient-centered care in diverse healthcare settings. Students engage in reflective self-assessment and individualized learning planning to support certification readiness, lifelong learning, and successful transition to professional practice.
