Catalog description

Physiology II builds upon foundational cellular and molecular principles to examine the integrated function and regulation of the cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and immune systems. Through the study of membrane transport, cellular signaling, system-level physiology, and homeostatic control mechanisms, students develop an in-depth understanding of cardiac output, ventilation, gas exchange, digestion, absorption, and host defense. Emphasis is placed on regulatory pathways, multisystem coordination, and physiologic adaptation to internal and external stressors. Using case-based analysis, data interpretation, and applied learning activities, the course prepares students for advanced clinical reasoning, diagnostic interpretation, and subsequent coursework in clinical medicine and patient care.
