Catalog description
This course introduces foundational clinical medicine using a systems-based approach focused on HEENT, dermatology, psychiatry, and genetics. Emphasis is placed on pathophysiology, clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, diagnostic evaluation, and evidence-based management of common conditions encountered in primary and acute care settings. Instruction integrates principles of emergency recognition and stabilization, procedural and surgical decision-making, and patient-centered care across the lifespan. Content is horizontally aligned with concurrent instruction in Anatomy I, Physiology I, and Clinical Pharmacology I to support integrated clinical reasoning.
