Catalog description

This course is designed to give students an understanding of key concepts and frameworks of civic engagement and public service. Students will learn what it means to be responsible, socially-conscious citizens of New Jersey, the United States, and the world. Students will critically examine university-community relationships, power structures, and the concept of privilege. Students will learn about the structure and roles of the government and about the concept of civil society and nonprofit organizations and their roles in public service provision and advocacy and the function of nonprofit organizations.
