Catalog description

This course explores the sociological and cultural conditions that led to the origins of jazz in the United States. Extensive listening and analysis during and outside the class is required. An in-depth study of the major composers and performers serves as the basis for defining the stylistic periods. (Previously NJCU Course MDT-612)
