Catalog description
This course is an introductory study of the nature and causes of communicable diseases. Measures of morbidity and mortality are reviewed and the concept of risk factors are discussed by looking at how disease is distributed in a population by person, place and time factors. Various types of research methodologies employed by epidemiologists are examined. A computer application of a food borne disease is included in the course work and methods of screening for disease are also covered. Some common childhood and adolescent communicable diseases are reviewed. (Previously NJCU Course HLTH-425)
