Catalog description

An introduction to the field of public, highlighting the ways where we encounter the past in public space - through museums and interpretive spaces, archival work, sites of commemoration, historical preservation, digital history, oral history, and film and media. Here, students will consider the relationship between history and memory and the ways in which the past gets documented, preserved, interpreted, and presented for a broader public.
