FORENSIC MICROSCOPY

Catalog description

This course will focus on the microscopic analysis of physical evidence and trace evidence materials (soil/sand, glass/rocks, hair, fibers, fur, biological and entomological samples). The course will also provide an introduction to general microscopy techniques: different types of microscopes and their uses, different parts of the microscope, focus and magnification and proper procedures for handling samples. There will also be discussion on real cases to provide the students with real applications for the techniques presented in the course.
