Artists engaged in many different fields of graphic endeavor often transmit ideas to others by means of technical drawings. Familiarity with this medium of expression is an essential part of the education of a proficient artist. Spoken or written language is usually inadequate to describe even the simplest structure or form. Drawing is the logical means of communication where relationships of shape and dimension are involved. Technical drawing is a universal languageused and understood by artists throughout the world.
