ORGANIC CHEMISTRY LABORATORY II

Catalog description

This is the second half of a two-semester sequence in experimental organic chemistry. Students are expected to execute the fundamental laboratory techniques learned in CHEM 2581L to effectively accomplish single and multi-step syntheses. Synthetic reactions are chosen to reinforce the topics covered in lecture. Students are expected to utilize industry standard safety protocols, write professional lab notebooks/formal lab reports, characterize products using modern synthetic techniques such as NMR, IR, GC/MS. (3 hour lab)
