Catalog description

Provides a technical level of understanding in the areas of networking connectivity, data communications concepts, and communication protocols. Introduces specialty fields using fiber optics, such as electrical utilities, oil and gas, wireless, platforms like ships and aircraft, component manufacturing technicians, network managers, and network designers. Provides comprehensive safety precautions for eye protection, tool safety, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and proper disposal of fiber shards. Prerequisite(s): EET 110 with a minimum grade of "C" or consent of Electrical Technology Program Coordinator. Lecture: 1 credits (15 contact hours); Laboratory: 2 credits (60 contact hours).
