Students are introduced to the foundational skills of history-taking, the clinical setting, and the basics of patient care. Emphasis is placed on the osteopathic approach to patients, including the consideration of social determinants of health. Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is introduced, aligned with MEDE topics, to begin building diagnostic proficiency.
