Catalog description

The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine elective provides medical students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of managing critically ill children. This rotation emphasizes the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and complex conditions in the pediatric population, including respiratory failure, septic shock, and trauma. Students will engage in direct patient care in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and observe advanced monitoring and therapeutic interventions. Through hands-on experiences, case discussions, and interdisciplinary collaboration, students will develop the skills necessary to provide high-quality care to critically ill pediatric patients.
