Catalog description

The Hematopathology elective provides medical students with an in-depth understanding of the diagnosis and management of hematologic diseases through the lens of pathology. This rotation focuses on the study of blood, bone marrow, and lymphatic tissues, including conditions such as anemia, leukemias, lymphomas, and clotting disorders. Students will engage in diagnostic processes, including histological examinations, flow cytometry, and molecular techniques, while learning to correlate laboratory findings with clinical presentations. Through direct observation and participation in laboratory and clinical settings, students will develop the skills necessary to diagnose hematologic disorders and contribute to patient care.
