Clinical Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

This course provides didactic and clinical instruction in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), emphasizing the integration of osteopathic principles and practice into patient care. Through the utilization of a variety of learning platforms, students will review foundational knowledge of osteopathic philosophy, biomechanics, anatomy, somatic dysfunction, patient assessment and evidence-informed treatment approaches. Clinical experiences allow students to apply these concepts in supervised patient encounters, performing osteopathic structural examinations, formulating osteopathic diagnoses and implementing appropriate osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) plans while producing accurate clinical documentation for each patient encounter. The course emphasizes clinical reasoning, patient centered care, professionalism, documentation, and the safe and effective use of OMT across a variety of patient presentations.
