This integrative course provides osteopathic medical students with a comprehensive foundation in the structure, function, and clinical relevance of the nervous system. Through a systems-based approach, students will explore the anatomical, molecular, and physiological principles needed to understand the signs and symptoms of neurological disease and to localize injuries within the nervous system. Emphasis is placed on understanding the pathophysiology of common and clinically significant neurological disorders, enabling students to construct differential diagnoses, formulate evidence-based treatment plans, and evaluate non-pharmacological strategies-including lifestyle modifications, procedural options, patient education, and preventive care. The course also fosters interdisciplinary reasoning by integrating biomedical, epidemiological, and clinical science perspectives to interpret patient presentations. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to approach neurologic conditions with diagnostic precision, therapeutic insight, and a holistic, patient-centered mindset aligned with osteopathic principles.
