Catalog description

Lifestyle Medicine I explores the biopsychosocial foundations of the six components of Lifestyle Medicine-optimal nutrition, physical activity and exercise, stress management and mind-body practices, sleep hygiene, social connection, and avoidance of risky health behaviors-and their application to health promotion, disease prevention, and the restoration of balance in the body. The pathophysiology of common chronic conditions including obesity, hypertension, musculoskeletal disorders, and systemic inflammation is integrated with evidence-based interventions across nutrition, exercise, stress management, and social connection domains to promote long-term wellness. Practices to support incorporation of Lifestyle Medicine into clinical practice and the delivery of patient-centered, preventive and therapeutic strategies that empower individuals to optimize their health and self-healing capacities are presented.
