Catalog description

Introduction to Healing offers students an essential foundation for understanding osteopathic medicine as a holistic, systems-oriented profession. Grounded in the tenets that view the patient as an integrated unity of mind, body, and spirit, this course introduces learners to the philosophies, models, and perspectives that illuminate how health and disease emerge within broader social, environmental, and institutional contexts. Through this lens, HSS becomes a mechanism by which osteopathic holism is made practical, teachable, and assessable. This course challenges students to engage uncertainty and ambiguity with equanimity and humility to navigate complex clinical situations with clarity, compassion, and principled discernment.
