Catalog description

Prosthodontics I is the first of three Prosthodontic courses in the curriculum. This course is an introduction to prosthodontics. Scheduled in the Simulation Clinic, it will include lectures and concurrent laboratory exercises to apply the didactic information learned. Students will learn the characteristics of the edentulous population, epidemiological data on edentulism, and clinical presentation of edentulous patients and basic fixed prosthodontics including ceramic full coverage restoration. Students will also be introduced to the sequential and laboratory procedures required for a complete denture patient including current digital technologies. Course objectives are achieved through a variety of instructional methodologies including lectures, group discussions, laboratory exercises, simulation and clinical experiences.
