The Foundations of Patient Care V course provides a variety of learning experiences for clinical practice. This course has three modules, advanced radiology, advanced periodontics, and understanding of temporomandibular joint disorders. This course provides an in-depth exploration of diagnostic interpretation in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately assess and analyze radiographic images. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and hands-on image review, participants will learn to identify normal anatomical landmarks, recognize pathological findings, and understand the radiographic features of common conditions affecting the head, neck, jaws, and surrounding structures. Key topics include principles of image interpretation, differential diagnosis, radiographic anatomy, and the application of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in clinical practice. Emphasis will be placed on developing a systematic approach to radiographic interpretation, enhancing clinical decision-making, and ensuring patient safety through evidence-based assessment. This course describes the evolution, rationale, anatomical concepts and prognosis of resective periodontal therapy, regenerative periodontal therapy, guided bone regeneration, furcation management, and mucogingival surgery. The course describes the role of occlusion and its effects on the periodontium, and it describes the periodontal-endodontic relationship. The course describes the periodontal-orthodontic relationship and discusses functional and esthetic crown lengthening. This course described the oromaxillofacial complex, TMJ anatomy, disorders of the TMJ, and treatment and referral for patient management. Ideal for dental professionals and specialists, this course prepares participants to make confident and accurate diagnostic interpretations that are critical in treatment planning and patient management in oral healthcare settings.
