Catalog description

A basic introduction to how most academic historians approach the history of pre-modern Christianity. An explantion of how a secular approach, grounded in an epistemology of rational empiricism, differs from the approach, grounded in an epistemology of divine revelation, that most Christians have used – an approach known as “church history” or faith history. Ultimately, students will develop the tools to recognize and think critically about both types of history, so that when they encounter histories of Christianity in the future, they are prepared to understand each type.
