The history of education is explored critically through multiple perspectives. Complex forces governing changes in education are exposed--forces that are felt but unseen. By studying historical contexts, much about schooling today is seen as problematic and open to question--not as inevitable. This study pushes past a passive acceptance of the status quo via a vigorous, fresh analysis.
