Catalog description

Focuses on bilingual and second language acquisition theories and classroom specific instructional methodologies, and student-informed assessments for EL students within PreK-12 settings. Special emphasis is placed on the frameworks of teaching, learning, and assessment within pluralistic settings, lesson planning, cooperative learning structures, and scaffolding techniques for ELLs. Various tenets of historical as well as contemporary philosophies, approaches, methods, and strategies within the field of Bilingual Education and Second Language Acquisition are presented. Practical tips and ideas are provided for classroom specific modifications and rigorous and meaningful transfer from instruction to contextually-embedded assessment practices within PreK-12 settings.
