Introduction to Tissue Engineering

Tissue engineering is an emerging biomedical engineering field that addresses the creation, repair, or improvement of human and animal tissue via the growth and adhesion of biomolecules, cells, and other biomaterials. This course introduces the field of tissue engineering with an eye toward improved human and animal health. Interdisciplinary topics include cells/tissue, biomaterials, organ scaffolds, transplantation, and clinical applications of tissue engineering. Students will explore application areas such as skin regeneration, cartilage repair, and organ transplantation.
