Catalog description
A study of flight instrument systems and navigation/communication electronic aids installed on aircraft. The course includes both lecture and practical applications of these systems to include operation, inspection, fault analysis and repair. The student will be exposed to mechanical and electronic airframe and powerplant indication equipment including flight instrument systems for heading, speed, altitude, temperature, pressure, RPM, and position indicating. The course includes flight management systems, and GPWS, TAWS, laser gyro and advanced Comm/Nav applications. Emphasis will be placed on NAV/COMM systems found in modern aircraft and associated antenna applications and installation methods. Pitot/Static instruments and systems are also discussed. Students practice inspection, service, fault analysis, installation and repair of these systems
