A study of aircraft metallic structures and materials used in the design, construction, and repair of airframes, including fuselages, wings, and control surfaces. Emphasizes structural properties, load paths, stress considerations, sheet metal fabrication techniques, fastener installation, welding practices, titanium structures, and damage evaluation. Students develop practical skills in aluminum sheet metal fabrication and structural repair in accordance with FAA approved data, applicable regulations, and manufacturer recommended procedures consistent with Aviation Mechanic Airman Certification Standards.
