Sculpture - Public Art

Catalog description

A course that embraces the public realm as a site, context and material for creating new experimental artwork. Students will develop a broad toolkit of conceptual, tactical, and practical skills for analyzing potential sites in the public realm, creating concept proposals, deploying temporary public artworks, learning how to work collaboratively, all while developing focused and experimental modes of artmaking that resonate with each student's unique capacities, interests, and voice. This course is offered at the 400 and 600 level with additional assignments at the 600 level. Not open to students with credit in SCUL 656. Prerequisite: Visual Art major or minor, ART 122, or instructor permission.
