Sculpture - Mold-Making and Casting

Catalog description

This studio course will explore mold-making and casting techniques across a variety of materials and processes. Students will examine the poetics of surface, density, and the concept of 'the multiple' by creating uncanny reproductions of objects and forms, materials include wax, plaster, concrete, rubber, and other experimental matter. Class time will be spent on hands-on technical demos, collaborative assignments, and the development of individual projects to form new voices through a material language. This course is offered at the 300 and 500 level with additional assignments at the 500 level. Not open to students with credit in SCUL 549. Prerequisite: Visual Art Major or Minor, ART 122, or permission of instructor.
