Catalog description

This course provides an overview of qualitative and quantitative research designs used in political science. We discuss the logic of social scientific inquiry, the range of research designs, types of data frequently used, and ethical issues associated with political science research. We discuss how political scientists develop research questions, collect and analyze data, and test hypotheses. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to better evaluate a broad range of political science research studies. Formerly known as POLS 306. Not open to students with credit in POLS 306. Prerequisite: POLS 110 or POLS 150 or POLS 170 (or their Honors equivalents), or consent of instructor. Satisfies: Goal 1 Outcome 2 (GE12) , Math and Statistics (MTS) , BA Quantitative Reasoning (QR)
