Physics - College Physics I

Catalog description

This course provides an introduction to the principles and applications of mechanics, fluids, heat, thermodynamics, and sound waves. Three class hours and one laboratory per week. This course emphasizes the development of quantitative concepts and problem solving skills for students needing a broad background in physics as part of their preparation in other major programs, and for those who wish to meet the laboratory science requirement of the College. Students who enroll in this course are expected to have had 3.5 years of college-prep math, including trigonometry. Not open to students with credit in PHSX 211 or PHSX 216 or PHSX 212 or PHSX 236. Prerequisite: Must be eligible for MATH 115.
