Nurse Anesthesia

Catalog description

This is the first in a series of five theoretical based courses designed to develop the student's knowledge base in the advanced principles of the art and science of nurse anesthesiology. Each of the theoretical courses is related to a clinical co-requisite course where the student must demonstrate, within the clinical arena, successful application of nurse anesthesiology. The co-requisite for this course is NURA 822: Advanced Practicum II (2 credit hours). The focus of the clinical course is the acquisition and refinement of clinical technical skills while demonstrating critical analytical thinking. Students are required to demonstrate sequential progression in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills. Clinical assignments do not necessarily match the specific didactic modules under current study. The intent of didactic courses is to guide students in the acquisition, synthesis, and integration of advancing principles of anesthesia practice. Prerequisite: Successful completion of NURA 809: Advanced Pathophysiology.
