Catalog description

Survey of drumming styles and its influence on culture, history, aesthetics, and beliefs from around the world (West Africa, the Caribbean, South America, East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America). Includes evolution of the drum set and the global hip hop phenomenon. The main goal of this course is to learn about how these varied musical styles are interconnected. Open to all majors. Satisfies: Goal 4 Outcome 2 (AE42) , Global Culture (GLBC)
