Catalog description

This course introduces fundamental statistical concepts, including descriptive and inferential statistics, graphical and numerical data descriptions, probability calculations, data analysis for observational and experimental data, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, statistical inference for single and two parameters, and simple linear regression with correlation analysis. MATH 107 is delivered in several instructional formats that cover the same content. Students consult with their Academic Advisor to select the appropriate instructional format. Not open to students with credit in BIOL 370, MATH 365, MATH 526, or MATH 628. Prerequisite: Math ACT of 19, or Math SAT of 510, or a qualifying score on a mathematics placement test, or two years of high school algebra with a C- or higher in second semester Algebra 2 (or Integrated Math 3) along with a 3.00 cumulative high school GPA (unweighted), or GED score of 160. Students without the necessary prerequisites must concurrently enroll in MATH 7W, a workshop that provides additional instructional assistance.
