Law - MLP Field Placement

Catalog description
Students provide legal assistance to patients referred by the MLP field placement’s medical partners. Students will engage, under attorney supervision, in interviewing, counseling, negotiation, and other aspects of the legal process. Cases may include public benefits, housing, employment, education, immigration, elder law, and family law. Both 2Ls and 3Ls are eligible to apply. Students may participate for one semester only (unless special approval is given). LAW 972 Professional Responsibility, LAW 908 Evidence, and LAW 992 Trial Advocacy are not required but are recommended. Students generally earn 3 or 6 credits and are required to apply directly to the MLP supervising attorneys. Graded on a credit/no credit basis.
