A survey of the history of the American media emphasizing appreciation and understanding of the technological, social, and cultural trends affecting newspapers, magazines, radio, and television broadcasters, and online media. The class may focus on one segment of journalism history, which will be listed in that semester's timetable. The course may be repeated when the focus varies. Prerequisite: Junior standing. Satisfies: Goal 4 Outcome 1 (AE41)
