Catalog description

This course is an introduction to bond markets and bond derivatives. Bonds and associated financial derivatives include securities that promise a fixed income stream and by extension all securities whose valuation and hedging are related to interest rates. The objective of this course is to provide students with a guide to financial markets, institutions and instruments associated with debt funds and help them to understand the determinants of the general level and structure of interest rates. The focus of this course is on the concepts and tools that are useful to understand and interpret real world issues related to debt markets. Prerequisite: FIN 410 or FIN 411 and FIN 413 or FIN 414.
